Transforming Special Education Since 1984
Vikas Bhavan Special School is a dedicated institution committed to empowering individuals with intellectual and physical challenges, guiding them toward a life of independence, confidence, and societal integration.
Founded on April 4, 1984, the school began with just four students under the visionary leadership of Fr. Antony Kurichaparambil. From its humble beginnings within a church building, the institution flourished under the care of the CMC Sisters, whose compassion and commitment continue to shape its identity.
Through the inspiring leadership of former Principals Sr. Mary Therese, Sr. Therese Francis, and Sr. Emily Vikas Bhavan built a lasting legacy of love, inclusivity, and empowerment. Today, under the Vikas Social Service Society, the school has expanded its mission through initiatives like the Velimanam Rehabilitation Centre and the Medicine Cover Unit, both dedicated to providing vocational training and skill development opportunities for children with special needs.
Under the able guidance of Headmistress Sr. Jessy Therese and a committed team of 32 teaching and non-teaching staff, the school supports 136 students with an optimal 8:1 student-teacher ratio, ensuring individualized attention and care.
Together, we continue to illuminate lives creating opportunities, nurturing potential, and inspiring every child to live with dignity and purpose.
